City Council Preview - What's on the Agenda for the June 26 Meeting?

At the next council meeting, Guelph's councillors will review this month's committee decisions, appoint some people to boards, and look at expanding the borders of the City's Downtown core.

CLOSED MEETING: Public Appointments to the Environmental Advisory Committee, Water Conservation and Efficiency Public Advisory Committee, and Wellbeing Grant Allocation Panel; Dolime Quarry – Mediation Process Update.
CON-2017.28 Downtown Guelph Business Association (DGBA) Request for Boundary Expansion - Since the end of the last century, the Downtown Guelph Business Association has been discussing the expansion of its borders, but the time has come to take that process in hand, and at a board of directors meeting of the DGBA last month, a unanimous vote signalled that it was finally time to start the process. Presently, the downtown boarder forms a rough pentagon from Carden St to Norfolk to Yarmouth to Woolwich to the CN tracks, but the new borders will extend to everything north of the tracks, east of Dublin to just past Paisley, just west of Norfolk up to London and down the river back to the tracks. At the meeting, council is being asked to endorse the initiation of process and to start consultation with downtown businesses and get their feedback on possible expansion.
CON-2017.27 Public Appointments to the Environmental Advisory Committee, Water Conservation and Efficiency Public Advisory Committee, and Wellbeing Grant Allocation Panel - Council will appoint seven people to the four committees mentioned above. Names to be released after the closed session.
