Press Release - Longfield to Official Make Move for Liberal Nom

Lloyd Longfield has spent the last couple of weeks letting the people tell him if he should run for the Liberal Party of Canada, and it appears that the opinion is an affirmative. Longfield intends to make his entry into federal politics official tomorrow night, kicking off the race to succeed Frank Valeriote as the Liberal nominee and, hopefully, Guelph's Member of Parliament. Below is the press release announcing the former President of the Chamber of Commerce's intention to run.
Today, long time Guelph resident, Lloyd Longfield, declares his candidacy for the nomination of the Guelph riding of the Federal Liberal Party of Canada. He will formally launch his nomination campaign at the Italian Canadian Club on Tuesday December 9th at 7:00 pm.

His local business outreach experience has included presidency of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, founding director of Innovation Guelph, advisory board member of the University of Guelph College of Business and Economics, and membership in the Mayor’s Task Force on the Economy.

In the community Mr. Longfield has served on the board of directors of Immigrant Services Guelph Wellington, on St. Joseph’s Health Care Quality Management Committee, and as chair of the Holy Rosary Parish council. He has also served on the board of directors of the River Run Centre, YMCA-YWCA, and as an artist in support of the Brush Off fundraiser for Hospice.

Mr. Longfield's successful business career includes an automation design and service start-up as well as managing Canadian divisions of multinational corporations. Mr. Longfield is currently Mentor in Residence at Innovation Guelph.
