Guelph Police Release Crash Stats for 2014

If you thought that things got worse on local roads last year in terms of car accidents and collisions, it turns out that you're right. There were 36 more collisions in 2014 than there were in 2013 according to new statistics released by the Guelph Police Service today. Amongst the statistics released were the worst month on the road, the worst day of the week on the road, the worst time to be on the road and three worst intersections in the city. What's the worst time to play the odds against traffic?
Here are last year's stats courtesy of the Guelph Police website:
  • Reported collisions 2,759, compared to 2,723 in 2013
  • Worst month – January - 613
  • Worst day – Wednesday - 801
  • Worst times – between 3:00 p.m and 5:00 p.m. – 1,333
  • Collisions involving drugs or alcohol – 30
  • Collisions involving pedestrians - 35
  • Worst day for pedestrians – Thursday and Friday each had 9
  • Worst time for pedestrians – between 12pm and 1pm and also between 3pm-4pm each had 8
  • Top three intersections for vehicle collisions:
  • 1-Woodlawn Road East/Woolwich Street - 24
  • 2-Edinburgh Road South/Wellington Street West - 20
  • 3-College Avenue West/Edinburgh Road South - 19
